A representative for the company said in a statement: "A protective barrier has been used at the original site of the fire. "Heavily-buckled shoes or boots can be particularly troublesome". David asked who was responsible and they told him that one of their engineers was responsible. He said there was no structural weakness in the floor of the building and, apart from the burnt-out sockets, everything else was in place.
The blaze has left some of the floors buckled and smoke still coming out of the building.
David, 28, died in hospital as the fire engulfed a second floor.
